Meet Caroline! Caroline is a TCK who grew up in America and Germany. She is a military child and had many ups and downs in her journey as a TCK.
Here's a bit of Caroline's story!
What country did you spend the most time in? Which country feels the most like home?
"I've spent most of my life in America, and it definitely feels the most like home. However, my favorite country to live in was Germany.
What countries have you lived in? Where do you currently live?
I have lived in "2 countries; Germany and America. I now live in North Carolina."
When you think of "home," what comes to mind first?
"A place where I feel safe, loved, and like I can be my true self."
Do you feel like you have one home, many homes, or no home? Why?
"I feel like I have many homes as I have been able to grow close with people from all over in all different places."
Was there a moment you realized your idea of home was different from others around you? Can you describe it?
"Yes, when I was in high school, I went to 5 different schools during the 4 years and very quickly realized I had no one to relate to. It was really hard for me to make close connections with people as I got older because most of them had already found their "home" or their "group" and they weren't exactly planning on expanding."

What's something that always makes you feel at home no matter where you are?
"My parents are truly the only constant in my life, so anytime I'm with them, especially if it's just the 3 of us, I feel most at home."
What's been the hardest part of finding belonging as a TCK?
"Feeling like no one gets it. Even though I know people who moved, it felt like no one did it as often as I did and didn't have as much change as me. And again, as I got older people were less open to expanding their circles."
If your life were a movie, book, or playlist, what would it be called?
"Five in Four: How the "Army Brat" Experience Shaped My Adolescence"
