Meet Caroline! Caroline grew up in Niger, West Africa and now lives in Virginia. Read a bit of her story about the ways that growing up overseas have given her a great appreciation for people and cultures. Learn about the advice she gives to embrace your experiences and connect with other TCKs.

How has being a TCK shaped the way you see identity, home or belonging?

"Being able to adapt to changes. I love the experiences that I had."

What has been the hardest part of growing up between cultures?

"Never really feeling completely at home in either place."

What has been the greatest gift or strength you've gained from being a TCK?

"Appreciation of people and culture. Also growing up close with my immediate family. I think I am better at relating to people and connecting due to my experiences."

How do you stay connected to the cultures that shaped you?

Staying in "contact with friends and family that are still overseas. As well as being involved in missions at my church."

What advice would you give a fellow TCK?

"Embrace your experiences and connect with other TCKs. Also stay connected with your family overseas - you are all going to go through these changes together. Have a daily devotion or a reading of the Bible."

If your life were a movie, book, or playlist, what would it be called?

Eclectic
